BI Lead (Fixed Term Contract to October 2027) Remote, UK, Up to £60,000 No sponsorship offered Must be immediately available or 1 month notice. The Company This organisation operates at a national scale and uses data, insight, and analytics to support strategic decision-making and stakeholder engagement. Their Data & Analytics function is investing heavily in modern data practices, self-service reporting, and emerging AI-driven technologies. You'll join a collaborative team of data professionals including Data Engineers, Analysts, and Business Analysis specialists, working on projects that combine technical excellence with real-world impact.
The Role As BI Lead, you will take ownership of the organisation's business intelligence and reporting capability during a key period of change. The role is heavily focused on Power BI, data modelling, stakeholder engagement, and the optimisation of existing reporting solutions.
Key responsibilities include:
Enhancing and maintaining existing Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions Developing and supporting semantic models and data layers that underpin reporting Translating business requirements into scalable reporting and data models Working closely with stakeholders to understand reporting needs and drive continuous improvement Writing and optimising DAX and SQL to support reporting and analytics Ensuring reporting outputs are accurate, reliable, and aligned with data governance standards Supporting external-facing reporting products and self-service analytics capability Contributing to Agile delivery processes, sprint planning, and roadmap activities Maintaining documentation and promoting reporting best practice across the business You'll also have the opportunity to contribute to innovative projects involving data products, AI-assisted analytics, and modern cloud data platforms.
Your Skills & Experience You will bring strong commercial experience in:
Power BI development across both front-end reporting and back-end modelling Data modelling and semantic layer design SQL for data querying and transformation DAX development and performance optimisation Stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering Communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences Designing scalable reporting solutions using best-practice methodologies such as Kimball, Star Schema, or Medallion Architecture Azure Dev Ops or CI/CD processes Azure Databricks Databricks Genie or AI-assisted analytics tools Microsoft Fabric Agile delivery environments and sprint-based working What They Offer Salary up to £60,000 Fixed-term contract through to October 2027 Predominantly remote working model Minimal travel requirements with occasional team meetups Exposure to innovative data and analytics projects Opportunity to work with large-scale behavioural, operational, and insight-led datasets Collaborative and supportive data team environment Chance to influence reporting strategy and best practice across the organisation
