Help us design secure, modern technology that our members can trust. We’re looking for a Solutions Architect with a passion for security to help shape the future of technology s isn’t a traditional “security gatekeeper” role. You’ll work as a core Solutions Architect first, designing end-to-end solutions across a complex technology landscape—while bringing deeper expertise in security to ensure everything we build is secure, resilient, and trusted by design.
You’ll play a key role in helping us modernise our platforms, simplify our architecture, and embed security into how we deliver technology—not bolt it on afterwards. At Skipton, we're founded on fairness. We exist to do right by our members - and we believe that starts with doing right by our people. So whoever you are and whatever you bring, there's a place for you here and a genuine plan for where you go next.
You’ll Do
- Design end-to-end technology solutions aligned to enterprise architecture, strategy, and target-state capabilities
- Partner with product owners, delivery leads, and engineering teams to turn complex requirements into clear, actionable designs
- Guide and influence technical decisions, balancing short-term delivery with long-term sustainability
- Provide architectural governance and assurance across the delivery lifecycle
- Identify risks, trade-offs, and opportunities to improve simplicity, reuse, and coherence
- Champion modern architecture approaches, including API-led integration, cloud-native design, and reusable platforms
We work in a hybrid way, balancing flexibility with collaboration. For this role, you'll typically spend three days a week in our Skipton office, with the remaining two days working from home.
What You’ll Need- Strong solution architecture expertise with experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions.
- Security-minded approach, embedding security principles throughout solution design and delivery.
- Knowledge of security controls across identity, data, cloud and modern technology environments.
- Experience designing resilient, scalable architectures that balance risk, usability and delivery outcomes.
- Familiarity with modern architecture patterns (APIs, microservices, event-driven architecture, cloud platforms) Azure experienced preferred
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across business, technology, engineering and risk stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to explain complex concepts and support decision-making at all levels.
- Annual discretionary bonus scheme
- 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a max of 30 days
- Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
- Colleague Mortgages and access to Skipton products and services at discounted rates
- Flexible working to help balance your commitments
- Private medical insurance, health and wellbeing app, volunteering opportunities, cycle-to-work scheme, discounted gym memberships
- Lifestyle perks such as a Home and Tech voucher, which can be used at John Lewis, Currys, and IKEA
