Rate: $45–$55/hour, depending on experience

Peraton is seeking an experienced z/OS Systems Lead to support a long-term contract with the State of Alabama. We’re looking for a senior mainframe professional who combines strong hands‑on z/OS systems programming expertise with proven technical team leadership in a data center environment.

• Lead systems programmers and network engineers, managing assignments, schedules, daily operations, and performance.
• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and upgrade z/OS environments, DB2, and related third‑party software.
• Oversee enterprise systems and network infrastructure, capacity planning, and performance analysis.
• Lead disaster recovery planning, testing, execution, and annual exercises.
• Maintain technical roadmaps, policies, procedures, and standards.
• Manage software, network, and disaster recovery budgets; assess and mitigate operational risks.
• Ensure contractual and SLA compliance, support audits, and deliver customer reports on performance, disaster recovery results, and technology recommendations.

• High school diploma and 10+ years of relevant experience
• 5+ years of hands‑on z/OS systems programming experience
• Experience installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting z/OS mainframe environments
• 5+ years in a technical lead, project lead, or management role
• Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex system software and/or network issues

• Enterprise mainframe, data center operations, and infrastructure support experience.
• Managed services or outsourced data center experience.
• Experience supporting z/OS software and subsystems in 24x7x365 production environments.
• Disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution experience.
• Firm Fixed Price (FFP) contract experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
