Role Overview:
You will support and optimize a cloud-based database environment. Join the Data Team to manage, enhance, and ensure the performance, security, and reliability of Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL databases. You will handle administration, automation, troubleshooting, and modernization projects, including complex database migrations and infrastructure automation using Terraform.

Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, and optimize Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL and Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL environments to ensure performance, availability, security, and reliability
• Develop, implement, and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform for database provisioning and management
• Monitor database health, troubleshoot complex production issues, and identify performance improvement opportunities
• Develop, optimize, and tune SQL queries, configurations, and related solutions for efficiency and performance
• Establish and maintain database standards, operational procedures, security controls, and change management practices
• Automate routine database administration, monitoring, maintenance, and operational tasks
• Plan and execute database migrations between AWS platforms and from on-premises systems like Microsoft SQL Server and IBM DB2 for i (iSeries) to AWS PostgreSQL
• Support high-availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery initiatives for business continuity
• Collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, and data teams on database integrations, application requirements, and cloud modernization efforts
• Serve as a subject matter expert on PostgreSQL and AWS database technologies, providing technical guidance and mentoring

Required Qualifications:

• Strong hands-on experience administering PostgreSQL databases within AWS, especially Amazon RDS and Amazon Aurora
• Proven experience with database performance monitoring, SQL query optimization, indexing, troubleshooting, and production support
• Experience developing and maintaining Terraform configurations for cloud infrastructure automation
• Strong understanding of database security, access management, backup/recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery
• Experience supporting database migrations, including from Microsoft SQL Server or other relational platforms to PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in SQL development, database administration, and operational automation
• Experience implementing database standards, managing database changes, and resolving complex technical issues
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and across technical teams
