Remote Data Center Operations Specialist

Our client is seeking a motivated and technically adept Data Center Operations Specialist to join their fully remote team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the remote monitoring, management, and maintenance of our distributed data center infrastructure. You will ensure the optimal performance, availability, and security of servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and power/cooling systems across various locations.

• Remotely monitor data center infrastructure (servers, storage, network devices, environmental controls) using sophisticated monitoring tools.
• Respond promptly to alerts and incidents, performing initial diagnostics and coordinating with on-site teams for physical interventions when necessary.
• Execute routine maintenance tasks, including software patching, system updates, and configuration changes, following strict change management procedures.
• Assist with the installation and decommissioning of IT hardware in data center facilities.
• Manage user access and permissions for various IT systems and platforms.
• Document operational procedures, troubleshooting guides, and incident reports accurately.
• Collaborate effectively with internal IT teams, vendors, and field engineers to resolve complex issues.
• Participate in capacity planning and performance analysis to ensure system scalability and efficiency.
• Maintain a secure operating environment by adhering to all company security policies and best practices.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of data center operational processes and tools.

• Proven experience in IT operations, system administration, or data center management.
• Solid understanding of server hardware (x86 architecture), storage systems (SAN/NAS), and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls).
• Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper‑V) is highly desirable.
• Experience with data center monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Solar Winds) is essential.
• Excellent remote troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for a remote role.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks in a remote setting.
• Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office space.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+) are a plus.
