Senior IT Project Manager - Digital Transformation; Public Sector Focus

Our client, a leading IT services firm with a strong presence in the public sector, is seeking a Senior IT Project Manager for its Kimberley, Northern Cape office. This role focuses on leading digital transformation projects for government agencies and related public entities. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of project management methodologies, a proven ability to manage complex IT projects within public sector environments, and excellent stakeholder management skills.

• Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of IT projects within the public sector.

• Develop detailed project plans and track progress against milestones.
• Ensure compliance with public sector procurement processes and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with government officials, agency stakeholders, and project teams.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues proactively.
• Oversee the implementation of new software, systems, and digital solutions.
• Ensure the quality and integrity of project deliverables.
• Conduct post-project reviews and document lessons learned.
• Manage communication between project teams, clients, and senior management.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT project management, with at least 3 years focused on public sector projects.
• Proven experience managing digital transformation, system implementation, or infrastructure upgrade projects in government settings.
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
• Understanding of public sector procurement regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships in a public service context.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira).
• PMP or PRINCE2 certification is highly desirable.
• Experience working in a hybrid model, balancing office presence in Kimberley with remote work.
• Familiarity with the specific needs and challenges of the Northern Cape region is a plus.
