Senior SDN​/NFV Solutions Architect

Our client, a visionary leader in network virtualization, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior SDN/NFV Solutions Architect to drive the design and implementation of next-generation software-defined networking and network functions virtualization solutions. This role is critical for transforming traditional network infrastructures into agile, dynamic, and programmable platforms. You will be at the forefront of innovation, architecting complex solutions that leverage cloud-native principles, containerization, and automation.

This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere within Polokwane, Limpopo, ZA , or beyond. We are looking for a thought leader with a deep understanding of SDN and NFV technologies, coupled with a strong vision for the future of networking.

• Design and architect end-to-end SDN and NFV solutions for telecommunications and enterprise networks.
• Develop comprehensive technical strategies for network virtualization, automation, and orchestration.
• Evaluate and select appropriate SDN controllers, VNFs, NFVi platforms, and orchestration tools.
• Create detailed technical designs, high-level designs (HLD), and low-level designs (LLD) for SDN/NFV deployments.
• Collaborate with engineering, product management, and operations teams to ensure successful solution implementation and integration.
• Define and implement network automation strategies using tools like Ansible, Python, and Kubernetes.
• Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization of virtualized network functions and services.
• Stay abreast of emerging SDN/NFV technologies, industry standards (e.g., ETSI NFV, ONAP), and best practices.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams.
• Author technical documentation, white papers, and presentations on SDN/NFV solutions.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in network architecture and engineering, with a strong focus on SDN and NFV.
• In-depth knowledge of SDN controllers (e.g., Open Daylight, ONOS), NFV infrastructure (NFVi), and MANO frameworks (e.g., OSM, ONAP).
• Hands-on experience with network virtualization technologies, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Go for network automation.
• Strong understanding of telecommunications network architectures, protocols, and services.
• Experience with network security in virtualized environments.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and architectural design skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead complex technical projects in a remote setting.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate vision and technical details.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices is a plus.
