Information Security Architect - Network Security Design

Our client, a multinational corporation with significant operations in Polokwane, Limpopo , requires a highly skilled Information Security Architect specializing in network security design. This senior role is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the security architecture of the company's network infrastructure, ensuring robust protection against evolving cyber threats. You will translate business requirements into secure network designs, evaluate and recommend security technologies, and establish security standards and best practices.

This position demands a deep understanding of network protocols, security principles, and modern security solutions. The role is critical for safeguarding sensitive data, ensuring network resilience, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Located in Polokwane , this position adopts a hybrid work model, offering a blend of on-site strategic planning and collaborative sessions with remote work flexibility. This role is essential for shaping the future security posture of our client's network within the Limpopo province.

• Design and implement secure network architectures, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and network segmentation.
• Develop and maintain network security standards, policies, and procedures.
• Evaluate, select, and implement new security technologies and solutions to enhance network defense.
• Perform threat modeling and risk assessments for network infrastructure and proposed changes.
• Collaborate with network engineering teams to ensure security is integrated into all network designs and deployments.
• Provide expert guidance on network security best practices and emerging threats.
• Oversee the implementation and configuration of network security devices and services.
• Develop and manage incident response plans related to network security incidents.
• Ensure network security measures comply with relevant regulatory and legal requirements.
• Conduct security reviews of network configurations and designs.
• Mentor junior security staff and share knowledge across the security team.
• Stay current with advancements in network security technologies and cyber threat landscape.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in information security, with a strong emphasis on network security architecture.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing complex enterprise network security solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPN technologies, and web application firewalls (WAFs).
• Experience with cloud network security (e.g., AWS VPC, Azure VNet) is a strong asset.
• Familiarity with network access control (NAC) solutions and endpoint security integration.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, ISO 27001).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Proficiency in network security assessment tools and methodologies.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, CCIE Security, or GIAC certifications are highly desirable.
• Must be comfortable with a hybrid work arrangement in Polokwane, Limpopo .
