Information Security Consultant

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and independent Information Security Consultant to provide expert advisory services. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional looking for a flexible contract engagement, offering the advantage of working remotely. You will be instrumental in assessing security risks, developing strategic security plans, and implementing robust security frameworks for various clients. The consultant will leverage their deep knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and regulatory compliance to advise on complex security challenges.

• Conduct comprehensive security assessments, risk analyses, and gap assessments for clients.
• Develop and recommend tailored security strategies, policies, and procedures.
• Advise on cybersecurity best practices, compliance requirements (e.g., POPIA, GDPR, ISO 27001), and threat mitigation.
• Assist clients in implementing security controls and technologies.
• Provide guidance on incident response planning and disaster recovery strategies.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of existing security measures and propose improvements.
• Stay abreast of emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and cybersecurity trends.
• Prepare detailed reports and presentations for clients outlining findings and recommendations.
• Offer expert advice on cloud security, application security, and network security.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in information security, consulting, or a related advisory role.
• Demonstrated experience in performing security risk assessments and developing security frameworks.
• In-depth knowledge of various security domains, including governance, risk, compliance (GRC), network security, and data protection.
• Familiarity with common cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory landscapes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and client-facing skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple client engagements effectively.
• Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, or CRISC are highly advantageous.
• Experience advising businesses that may have operations in or near Klerksdorp is beneficial.
