About the Role
Our client is expanding its technical team and is seeking a dedicated Remote Infrastructure Deployment Technician to support their growing service needs. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere, though it is advantageous to be within reasonable proximity to Klerksdorp, North West for potential occasional site visits for critical hardware deployments.
Your primary responsibility will be the remote installation, configuration, and testing of various infrastructure components, including network hardware, specialized IT equipment, and integrated systems. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that new installations are deployed smoothly and efficiently, meeting all technical specifications and client requirements. This role requires a strong technical skillset, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage projects independently from inception to completion in a remote setting.
Key Responsibilities- Remotely manage the end-to-end deployment of IT and network infrastructure components.
- Configure and set up routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and other hardware according to project plans.
- Conduct thorough remote testing and validation of installed systems to ensure functionality and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve deployment-related issues, escalating complex problems as needed.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation for deployed infrastructure, including configuration details and site reports.
- Coordinate with on-site personnel (where applicable) for physical installations or troubleshooting.
- Monitor deployment timelines and ensure projects are completed within agreed-upon schedules.
- Stay updated on new deployment technologies and best practices for remote infrastructure management.
- Adhere to security protocols and company standards throughout the deployment process.
- Collaborate with engineering and support teams to provide feedback on deployment processes and equipment.
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure deployment, network installation, or systems administration.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs) and hardware configuration.
- Experience with configuring and managing network devices (routers, switches, firewalls) from major vendors.
- Familiarity with server hardware and basic operating system installation/configuration.
- Strong remote troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective remote collaboration.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or similar are highly advantageous.
