Data Scientist; NLP Specialist

Our client, a forward-thinking company at the forefront of AI & Emerging Technologies, is seeking an experienced Data Scientist with a specialization in Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join their innovative team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your expertise from anywhere in Upington, Northern Cape
, or beyond. You will be instrumental in developing and implementing advanced NLP models to extract insights from unstructured text data, enhance user experiences, and drive business decisions. This role demands a deep understanding of linguistic structures, machine learning algorithms, and practical application of NLP techniques. You will collaborate with a talented group of data scientists, engineers, and product managers, working on challenging and impactful projects.

• Develop, train, and deploy state-of-the-art NLP models for tasks such as text classification, sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, topic modeling, and machine translation.
• Utilize advanced NLP techniques, including deep learning models (e.g., Transformers, BERT, GPT) and traditional methods.
• Process and analyze large volumes of textual data from various sources.
• Design and conduct experiments to evaluate model performance and iterate on improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate NLP models into production systems and applications.
• Communicate complex findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders through visualizations and reports.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and advancements in NLP and machine learning.
• Contribute to the development of a robust data science infrastructure and best practices.

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Computational Linguistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience as a Data Scientist with a strong focus on NLP.
• Proven expertise in developing and deploying NLP models using libraries such as spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face Transformers, Tensor Flow, and PyTorch.
• Solid understanding of machine learning principles, statistical modeling, and data mining techniques.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Experience with handling and processing large datasets.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
