Remote Network Infrastructure Specialist

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Remote Network Infrastructure Specialist to join their expanding IT department. This role is entirely remote, allowing you to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our company's network infrastructure. This includes LANs, WANs, firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networks. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to manage complex network environments, ensure high availability and security, and provide excellent remote support to our distributed workforce.

• Design, deploy, configure, and manage enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Monitor network performance and security, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
• Implement and maintain network security best practices, including intrusion detection/prevention systems and access controls.
• Provide remote technical support to end-users and IT staff for network-related issues.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Plan and execute network upgrades and migrations to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and trends, recommending improvements where appropriate.
• Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network services with other infrastructure components.
• Manage network bandwidth and optimize traffic flow for critical applications.
• Respond to network emergencies and incidents, providing rapid resolution.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration and infrastructure management.
• Proven expertise with Cisco, Juniper, or similar network hardware.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, MPLS, and other routing and switching protocols.
• Hands-on experience with firewall management (e.g., Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA).
• Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Solar Winds, PRTG, Nagios).
• Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to diagnose issues remotely.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
