Senior Systems Administrator; Remote

Our client, a rapidly expanding telecommunications innovator, is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join their fully remote team, based in Cape Town . This role is crucial for managing and maintaining our client's critical IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless operations and robust security. You will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of our server environments, cloud platforms, and associated services. The ideal candidate thrives in a distributed team setting and possesses a strong technical aptitude for complex system administration tasks, contributing to the continuous improvement of our IT ecosystem.

• Administer and maintain server infrastructure (Windows, Linux) in both on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
• Deploy, configure, and manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery solutions.
• Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Troubleshoot and resolve system hardware, software, and network issues.
• Develop and enforce security policies and procedures to protect company data.
• Automate routine tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Bash, Python).
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of applications.
• Provide on-call support as needed for critical system issues.

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on server management and cloud technologies.
• Proficiency in Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Strong experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure, including IaaS and PaaS services.
• In-depth knowledge of virtualization technologies (VMware vSphere, Hyper-V).
• Experience with scripting for automation (Power Shell, Bash, Python).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts, security best practices, and directory services (Active Directory).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
