Remote Senior DevOps Engineer; Telecoms

Our client, a prominent innovator in the telecommunications sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Dev Ops Engineer to join their distributed engineering team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in South Africa. You will play a critical role in building, automating, and scaling the infrastructure that supports our client's cutting-edge telecommunications platforms and services.

This position requires a deep understanding of cloud-native technologies, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and a passion for optimizing development and deployment workflows. You will collaborate closely with software development and operations teams to ensure robust, efficient, and secure system operations in a remote-first culture.

• Design, implement, and manage robust CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of telecommunications software.
• Develop and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation.
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) ensuring scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Implement and manage containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Automate system administration tasks, monitoring, and alerting using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash).
• Ensure the security and compliance of infrastructure and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with development teams to troubleshoot issues and improve application performance.
• Monitor system performance and proactively identify and address potential bottlenecks or failures.
• Contribute to architectural decisions related to infrastructure and deployment strategies.
• Champion Dev Ops best practices and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant experience (6+ years) in Dev Ops, system administration, or software engineering, with a focus on automation and cloud infrastructure.
• Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their associated services.
• Proficiency in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Expertise in IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
• Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, Power Shell).
• Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git Lab CI, Azure Dev Ops).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
• Knowledge of networking concepts and security best practices in cloud environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for working with distributed teams.
