Telecoms Systems Administrator

Our client, a dynamic and innovative telecommunications company, is seeking a skilled Telecoms Systems Administrator to manage and maintain their vital IT infrastructure. This role, based in the scenic town of Stellenbosch, Western Cape , focuses on ensuring the smooth operation, security, and reliability of our client's internal systems and client-facing platforms. You will be responsible for the installation, configuration, patching, and ongoing support of servers, operating systems, and related software.

• Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
• Manage and monitor system performance, ensuring optimal uptime and resource utilization.
• Implement and maintain system security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and access controls.
• Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery planning.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues, providing timely resolutions.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
• Deploy and manage virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
• Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Bash).
• Maintain up-to-date system documentation.
• Provide technical support to end-users and other IT staff.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in systems administration, preferably in a telecommunications environment.
• Proficiency with Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
• Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
• Knowledge of network protocols and services (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Familiarity with scripting languages for automation (Power Shell, Bash).
• Understanding of IT security best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote environment.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
