Job Description Senior Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer

** Pay Range:** $65 - $80 per hour

** Full-time, 40 hours/week  Overview  We are seeking a Senior Identity & Access Management (IAM) Engineer to support the design, implementation, and ongoing improvement of enterprise identity and security platforms.
This is a senior-level engineering role requiring strong hands-on experience across
** Privileged Access Management (PAM), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Active Directory**. The ideal candidate can operate independently, solve complex identity and access challenges, and contribute to the architecture, standards, and long-term direction of the IAM environment.
This position is fully remote and can be worked from any U.S. time zone. Some meetings or project work may occasionally require availability during Mountain or Pacific Time business hours with advance notice.  Core Areas of Expertise

What You’ll Be Doing
* Design, implement, and enhance enterprise IAM and security solutions.
* Engineer and support Privileged Access Management and Multi-Factor Authentication capabilities.
* Support and improve Active Directory and Entra .
* Lead complex identity and security engineering initiatives from design through implementation.
* Evaluate existing IAM environments and identify opportunities to improve security, scalability, reliability, and performance.
* Contribute to technical roadmaps and long-term platform strategy.
* Develop and enforce technical standards, engineering practices, and security controls.
* Troubleshoot complex identity, authentication, authorization, and access-related issues.
* Partner with security, infrastructure, cloud, and application teams on cross-functional initiatives.
* Provide technical guidance on architecture and engineering decisions.
* Identify opportunities for automation and improved operational efficiency.
* Create and maintain technical documentation and engineering standards.
* Mentor other engineers and share technical knowledge across the team.

What We’re Looking For
* 6+ years of experience in IAM, security engineering, infrastructure engineering, or a closely related field.
* Strong hands-on experience with
** Privileged Access Management (PAM)
** technologies and concepts.
* Strong experience implementing or supporting
** Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
** solutions.
* Advanced experience with
** Microsoft Active Directory**.
* Experience with
** Microsoft Entra
** and modern identity environments.
* Strong understanding of authentication, authorization, identity lifecycle, privileged access, and access-control concepts.
* Experience designing and implementing secure, scalable enterprise environments.
* Strong understanding of security architecture and engineering principles.
* Ability to independently troubleshoot complex identity and access issues.
* Experience contributing to or influencing technical architecture and engineering standards.
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
* Ability to work effectively across security, infrastructure, cloud, application, and business teams.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Background
* Experience owning an IAM platform or leading significant identity/security initiatives.
* Experience working in complex enterprise environments.
* Experience with identity automation, cloud security, or security engineering.
* Relevant security, cloud, or identity certifications.
* Previous experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to other engineers.

Ideal Candidate  The strongest candidate will be a hands-on IAM engineer who has directly worked with
** PAM, MFA, and Active Directory
** in a large enterprise environment.
We are looking for someone who can do more than administer existing tools. This person should understand how identity platforms fit together, be able to diagnose complex problems, make sound engineering decisions, and help improve the overall security and maturity of the IAM environment.
