Telecoms Systems Administrator

Our client, a prominent player in the telecommunications sector, is seeking an experienced Telecoms Systems Administrator to manage and maintain its critical network infrastructure. This role, based remotely but with occasional travel to Centurion, Gauteng , is vital for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our client's communication systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing diverse telecom platforms, including VoIP, PBX, and mobile communication technologies.

You will be responsible for system uptime, configuration management, and supporting complex technical operations within a fast-paced environment.

• Administer, monitor, and maintain various telecommunications systems, including VoIP platforms, IP PBX, and associated hardware.
• Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure security and functionality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to voice and data communication systems.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and system configurations for telecommunications services.
• Implement and maintain network security measures for telecom systems to prevent unauthorized access.
• Develop and document system administration procedures, policies, and best practices.
• Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to manage system integrations and new deployments.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and support staff.
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for critical telecom infrastructure.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in telecommunications systems administration.
• Proficiency with VoIP technologies, SIP protocols, and PBX systems (e.g., Asterisk, FreePBX, Cisco Call Manager).
• Experience with network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN, routers, and firewalls.
• Knowledge of mobile communication technologies (GSM, LTE) is a plus.
• Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for automation is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting, with occasional site visits to Centurion .
