Senior Technical Support Engineer - Network Infrastructure

Our client, a leading telecommunications and IT solutions provider, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Support Engineer to join their team in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape . This role is integral to ensuring the reliability and performance of our clients' network infrastructure. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, providing expert-level support, and contributing to the continuous improvement of network services.

• Provide advanced technical support for network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot complex network connectivity, performance, and security issues.
• Implement, configure, and manage network devices and services.
• Develop and maintain network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Respond to and resolve escalated technical incidents within defined service level agreements (SLAs).
• Monitor network performance and proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on network design, upgrades, and deployments.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior support staff.
• Participate in on-call rotation for emergency network support.

• Proven experience as a Senior Technical Support Engineer or Network Engineer with a strong focus on support.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), switching technologies, and network security principles.
• Hands-on experience with network hardware from major vendors (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Huawei).
• Proficiency in network troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, Ping, Trace route).
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Experience working in a hybrid IT support environment in Port Elizabeth, Eastern Cape .
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage critical incidents effectively.
