Senior Systems Engineer; ContractToHire​/Remote

Optomi, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to design, manage, automate, and support enterprise cloud and on-premises infrastructure. This role focuses heavily on Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, Terraform-based infrastructure as code, Azure Dev Ops CI/CD pipelines, and automation using Power Shell and Python. The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for provisioning and maintaining Azure resources, supporting SQL Server and Databricks environments, managing Hyper‑V virtualization and physical servers, and ensuring the security, performance, and reliability of critical enterprise systems.

The ideal candidate brings extensive hands‑on Azure engineering experience, strong Terraform and Dev Ops automation skills, and a solid background in data center infrastructure and Microsoft technologies.

This is a fully remote position requiring candidates to reside in the Atlanta area to accommodate occasional or emergency visits to local data centers.

• Design, deploy, manage, and optimize Microsoft Azure cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, identity, and security.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform to automate provisioning, configuration, and deployment of cloud resources.
• Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure Dev Ops and automate operational tasks through Power Shell, Python, and Power Automate.
• Administer and support SQL Server and Databricks environments, including database provisioning, performance optimization, backups, and troubleshooting.
• Manage and maintain on-premises data center infrastructure, including physical servers, Hyper‑V virtualization, patching, and disaster recovery.
• Support and optimize Microsoft 365 E5 services, Entra , enterprise applications, and API integrations while maintaining security and compliance standards.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure, networking, and application issues to ensure system availability, performance, and reliability across cloud and on-premises environments.

• 12+ years of experience in systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, Dev Ops, or a related IT infrastructure role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Azure, including cloud infrastructure design, deployment, administration, networking, storage, and identity management.
• Extensive experience with Terraform and infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate cloud provisioning and infrastructure deployments.
• Hands‑on experience with Azure Dev Ops, CI/CD pipelines, Power Shell, and Python scripting for infrastructure automation.
• Strong background in on-premises data center infrastructure, physical servers, and Hyper‑V virtualization.
• Experience with SQL Server, Databricks, database administration, and cloud data platform support.
• Solid understanding of Microsoft 365 E5, networking, firewalls, VPNs, and enterprise security best practices.
