Product Data Associate Monthly Pay: $3,603 - $5,441 USD per month

Summary:

Accurate product attributes, consistent categories, and complete update notes are the standards for good work in this role. The Product Data Associate helps maintain dependable online product information so customers can understand items and product teams can trust catalog details. This contract position sits within the product management team and works under a product operations team lead. The associate works with product managers, merchandising colleagues, and ecommerce operations staff to resolve missing or inconsistent information.

This is a fully remote, desk-based work from home position in Virginia, United States. The role requires a 40-hour weekly commitment. Working days and shift times may vary.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Review incoming product data requests through a shared task queue, checking priorities, requested changes, and supporting information before beginning updates.
  • Compare product names, descriptions, dimensions, colors, and other attributes against approved source information, flagging missing values or conflicting details for clarification.
  • Enter approved updates in a product information management system such as Akeneo, following established field definitions and formatting instructions.
  • Assign existing product categories and attribute values using approved classification guidance, asking the product operations team lead about unclear category matches.
  • Check related product variants for consistent naming, attribute structure, and relationships before submitting changes for review or release.
  • Track assigned requests in a project management tool such as Asana, recording progress, outstanding questions, and the next required action.
  • Follow up with merchandising colleagues or product managers when source details are incomplete, keeping requests open until the necessary information arrives.
  • Escalate unresolved discrepancies, repeated errors, or blocked updates to the product operations team lead with concise examples and relevant context.
  • Recheck completed changes in the catalog view, confirm that approved values appear correctly, and close requests with clear notes describing the outcome.
  • Meet quality expectations through accurate entries, timely turnaround, complete notes, and dependable follow-up, using review feedback to prevent recurring mistakes.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required; related experience with online product catalogs, product attributes, or administrative data entry is preferred.
  • Understanding of basic product information concepts, including categories, variants, required fields, and consistent naming conventions.
  • Ability to compare source information carefully, recognize duplicate entries, and identify missing or inconsistent attribute values without guessing.
  • Familiarity with structured data fields and task tracking; willingness to learn the named systems through guided practice and feedback.
  • Clear written communication for asking focused questions, explaining discrepancies, and leaving update notes that colleagues can understand without additional context.
  • Ability to follow documented instructions, handle routine updates carefully, and seek guidance when a request falls outside established procedures.
  • A reliable computer, high-speed internet, and quiet private workspace, with availability for the 40-hour weekly commitment and agreed working days and shift times.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
Perks & Benefits:
  • Fully remote work from home in a desk-based product data role.
  • Structured onboarding and training on the named product information management and project management systems, with guided examples of common updates.
  • Regular check-ins with the team lead to review questions, priorities, and work quality.
  • Practical development in product information management, data verification, catalog classification, and cross-team coordination.
  • Health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), maternity leave, and bonus opportunities.
