Director Of Digital Transformation

Our client, a forward-thinking national retail chain, is seeking a visionary Director of Digital Transformation to lead their strategic shift towards a digitally-enabled future. This role is entirely remote, offering unparalleled flexibility to the successful candidate, and is based conceptually around our operations hub in Pretoria , though physical presence is not required. You will be responsible for defining and executing a comprehensive digital strategy, driving innovation across all business units, and fostering a digital-first culture.

The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of emerging technologies, digital marketing, e-commerce, and data analytics, with a proven ability to manage large-scale transformation projects.

• Develop and implement a holistic digital transformation strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead the integration of digital technologies across all business functions, including customer experience, operations, marketing, and sales.
• Identify and evaluate emerging digital trends and technologies relevant to the retail sector.
• Drive the adoption of digital tools and platforms, ensuring seamless implementation and user adoption.
• Oversee digital marketing initiatives, e-commerce platforms, and online customer engagement strategies.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for digital transformation initiatives.
• Foster a culture of innovation and digital literacy throughout the organization.
• Collaborate with IT, marketing, operations, and other departments to ensure alignment and successful execution of digital strategies.
• Manage external digital agencies and technology partners.
• Provide thought leadership and strategic direction on digital transformation to executive leadership.

• A minimum of 10-12 years of experience in digital strategy, digital transformation, or a related leadership role within a large organization.
• Proven experience in leading successful digital transformation initiatives, including e-commerce, digital marketing, and data analytics implementation.
• Strong understanding of current and emerging digital technologies, platforms, and trends.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute complex strategies in a remote-first environment.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and change management skills.
• Experience in the retail industry is highly advantageous.
• A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is required.
• A Master's degree in a relevant discipline is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with distributed teams and fostering collaboration in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools.
