Job SummaryThe Property & Casualty, Commercial Lines Account Executive interacts with clients daily, developing and maintaining relationships with client and carrier representatives. You will prepare applications, specifications, and marketing strategy for new business as well as renewals of assigned clients under a degree of supervision.
Manage a book of business of middle markets to larger insurance clients with an emphasis on client retention. Primary function is to provide quality service to clients and cross-sell/account-round within the existing book.
Full-time position, ideally hybrid from Bethesda, MD office. Consider remote option for well-experienced candidates able to work on EST schedule. Must maintain private workspace, high-speed internet, and be responsive.

- Increase revenue by rounding out commercial lines accounts and negotiating pricing and coverage terms in the client’s best interest.
- Develop relationships that lead to new business sales.
- Create complete marketing submissions including client coverage needs, exposure data, property and equipment values through serial numbers, replacement cost assessments, client invoices and tax/financial data.
- Review prior policies and analyze coverage for gaps and enhancements for new business opportunities.
- Complete applications and supplemental applications, assist producers with full completion.
- Review and analyze historical data such as payroll, revenue, employee count, contracted cost, and vehicle numbers to discuss account pricing.
- Review prior claim history and provide explanation of catastrophic losses.
- Be familiar with carrier appetites and market climate to advise producers on eligible markets.
- Work with carriers to provide complete, accurate, and timely information.
- Prepare client proposals according to NFP standardization from carrier quotes reflecting accurate coverage terms, pricing, exposure basis, renewal comparisons, and marketing results.
- Collaborate and delegate tasks to account assistants, managers, and producers to meet client needs.
- Perform all technical and clerical functions for the assigned book of business to meet insurance service needs, including initiating new business as directed by producers.
- Maintain proficiency in all technical aspects, including policy review, limits, coverages, program design, solvency issues, and excess & surplus lines placements.
- Prepare summaries, schedules, and proposals for account review, remarketing, and renewal activities with account manager/producer.
- Review service plan designed for the client and maintain diary alerts and follow-ups to assure deliverables are met.
- Analyze loss run/claim history reports including Mod Master.
- Take advantage of personal and professional development opportunities such as continuing education, professional designations, and in-house training.
- Adhere to all state laws and regulations regarding insurance agents (licensing, continuing education, etc).
- Assist with or complete other tasks as directed by agency management.
- Above average knowledge working in Microsoft Office; intermediate to advanced skill for Excel and Word.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and follow-through; maintains a sense of urgency.
- Property and casualty insurance license required upon hire.
