OverviewEvaluate complex risks by performing credit and financial analysis of bond contracts. Complete underwriting on new business and renewal contracts. Provide advanced technical guidance to agents regarding underwriting information, including cross‑selling other company products and services. All duties are carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform financial and statistical analysis of complex bond submissions using company systems.
- Resolve challenging bond issues through telephone, written correspondence and/or personal contact with agents, insureds and internal employees.
- Make independent decisions on bond submissions for new business and renewals within delegated authority.
- Develop and present underwriting recommendations to management.
- Ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification, accurate information and adherence to bond policies, procedures and philosophy.
- Process renewal form letters, status inquiry reviews and revisions.
- Participate in agency marketing visits and underwriting meetings.
- Promote company products and services.
- Provide guidance to agents, policy holders, and internal personnel on technically challenging bond situations.
- Stay abreast of industry‑related legal and regulatory information, issues and decisions affecting the bond department.
- Recommend changes to bond policies or procedures that benefit the department and the company.
- Act as a proactive advisor to management and bond personnel on bond issues.
- Mentor and train less experienced underwriters and trainees.
- Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of suretyship and ability to interpret product and laws.
- Knowledge of PC adaptation of software applications.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- College degree preferred.
- 2–4 years of underwriting experience or equivalent related work experience.

Base salary varies by geographic location and reflects experience, education, and business needs.
Pay RangeUSD $84,000.00 – $ per year.
