AmTrust Financial is looking for a Senior Field Production Underwriter for our Small Commercial Middle Market division. We are currently building out this Team and looking for Production Underwriters who will be focused on all middle market business.
This Senior Field Production Underwriter administers the underwriting and servicing of new and renewal accounts for assigned middle market agents and producers in compliance with Company underwriting, authority, and pricing standards.
Responsibilities- Write and retain a profitable book of business through solid risk analysis, pricing, marketing, and servicing. Maintain compliance with state filings and adhere to corporate underwriting and pricing guidelines. Operate within written authority grant and make referrals to Middle Market and Home Office Underwriting as required.
- Collaborate closely with members of the Middle Market team. Communicate with the team on marketplace, technical, and relationship trends and knowledge.
- In collaboration with distribution partners, develop and implement a marketing and pipelining plan for key agents in the geographic area and share accountability in meeting financial goals.
- Coach agents on underwriting appetite and protocols in conjunction with corporate training guidelines.
- Actively participate in industry events as required such as, but not limited to, agency or association conventions.
- Provide professional, timely and courteous communication and service to external clients and cross‑departmental staff to successfully write/retain business and handle inquiries from policyholders and agents.
- Provide pertinent information and guidance to support staff required to process coverage requests in accordance with service guidelines.
- 7+ years of commercial lines property and casualty experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong negotiation skills and marketing experience
- Demonstrated experience with and expert technical knowledge of middle market organizations
- Technical command of underwriting of liability, property, automobile, and umbrella exposures of middle market organizations
- Ability to interpret and analyze information to make an informed risk selections and pricing decisions
- Respect for confidential information
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Enjoyment of being part of a team of like‑minded insurance professionals
- Ability to travel within the assigned territory and to the Home Office as required
- CPCU or CIC designation preferred

The expected salary range for this role is $120,500 - $165,000.
