Underwriting Specialist - Management Liability

Zurich is currently looking for an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter Management Liability to work out of our San Francisco location. This market‑facing role requires a strong sales mindset to proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities, identify growth opportunities, and build strong relationships with retail distributors (agents and brokers) and customers to support business retention and acquisition.

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws and regulations.
• Develop, maintain, and collaborate with Line of Business representatives and other business‑related needs, as appropriate.
• Establish and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to determine their insurance needs and provide solutions.
• Support the organization's sales culture by acting as a help point for agents, brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessments with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite while ensuring sound business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on‑site calls with a well‑prepared purpose.
• Mentor team members.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ year of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 4+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of line(s) of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area, OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 3+ years of experience in the Underwriting or Market‑Facing area, OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 8+ years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Experience working on time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience working in a team environment.

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong relationship building skills.

Salary ranges for this position are $96,600.00 – $, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility of 10% for Underwriting Specialists and 15% for Executive Underwriters. Bonuses and merit increases are possible. Comprehensive benefits are offered for employees and their families.
