The A&H Specialty Business Unit takes a forward-thinking, flexible approach to solutions that span a robust slate of products tailored to needs in Special Risk, International Travel Medical, retail and wholesale Travel and Occupational Risk. The Occupational Accident Profit Center is part of the Specialty Business Unit (SBU) within A&H and writes the following lines of business:
Occupational Accident, Contingent Liability and Employers Liability, Non-Trucking Liability, and Physical Damage for Independent Contractors with ancillary Workers’ Compensation for employees. The target markets are the trucking industry and the Gig Economy.
The Underwriting Assistant role will aid the underwriters with the responsibilities of underwriting, securing & retaining accounts, and the administrative tasks affiliated with the underwriting process. This role will provide the foundational elements to becoming a multiline Underwriter within Accident & Health.
Ideal candidate would reside in CT area, but open to fully remote for the right candidate.
What you will do for C&F:
- Manage pre-qualification of submission documents to ensure adequate information is provided for evaluation
- Perform account setup within C&F systems
- Track new business and renewal accounts for timely delivery
- Responsible for underwriting of program renewals within guidelines
- Execute Proposal & Binder creation as well as revisions
- Serve as a back-up to account management
- Complete account reporting and performance metrics
- Handle ad hoc requests from the underwriting team and Occupational Accident leadership
- Abide by departmental policies and procedures, including authority levels, to comply with C&F's risk management controls
What you will bring to C&F:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
- High School Diploma and 3+ years of equivalent work experience or completion of an internship required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools – Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point
- Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
- Strong demonstration of problem solving and analytical skills
- A customer focus mentality
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
- High degree of organization to prioritize work and follow up on issues
