Evaluate risks by performing credit and financial analysis of bond contracts. Complete underwriting on new business and renewal contracts. Provide guidance to agents regarding underwriting information, cross‑sell other products, and facilitate compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Perform financial, credit, and risk analysis of bond contracts to determine underwriting exposure using financial-based computer applications.
- Complete underwriting for new and renewal bond contracts; increase renewal premium through cross‑selling additional coverage, products or services.
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manuals.
- Process renewal form letters, status inquiry reviews, and revisions; send supplies, kits, and guides to assigned agents.
- Provide guidance to agents and other departments regarding underwriting information; communicate decisions and appetite to agents and maintain a high service quality.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, participate in team goal development, and support team decisions.
- Conduct continuous profit and growth analysis by territory and agency; monitor premium retention with electronic reporting tools.
- Mentor and train less experienced underwriters and trainees.
- Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to market and negotiate effectively with internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- College degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of accounting and/or financial statement analysis preferred.
- 1–3 years of surety and fidelity underwriting experience preferred.
- Previous experience in construction, accounting, auditing, or banking highly desired.

Pay RangeUSD $63,000 – $95,000 per year.
