In This Role You Will Be Responsible For- Reviews, evaluates and analyzes risk exposures, controls, loss history, financial condition and recommends or executes underwriting decisions around submission acceptance or declination within established risk appetite.
- Anticipates underwriting exposure information needs, and proactively seeks out alternative, relevant data sources using underwriting tools to improve understanding of risks.
- Analyze and recommends input in areas of policy rating, subjective pricing, policy construction, coverages and exclusions, mandatory forms, etc. that are needed to accurately quote and/or renew policies (bonds).
- Develops and executes account servicing solutions independently and in collaboration with Underwriter, with responsibility for end-to-end servicing processes for new business, renewals, and endorsements for more complex business accounts.
- Drives broker/agent/distributor/customer interactions and on-site calls related to account servicing matters with a planned and well-prepared purpose. Builds strong working relationships outside the team and with broker counterparts.
- Develops new team members and provides support and coaching to peers, based on quality results. Provides coaching and problem solving for complex transactions / issues while educating peers on the context behind the solution.
- Supports special projects as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associate Degree and 2 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the Insurance, Underwriting or Market Facing area.
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
- Experience with data collection and analysis
- Experience with processing, rating and policy management systems used in the insurance industry.
- Customer service experience
- Problem solving experience
- Experience servicing product portfolios for multiple lines of business for insurance.
- Microsoft Office experience
- Knowledge of underwriting philosophy and techniques
- Knowledge of national and local insurance filing regulations and guidelines
- Knowledge of international insurance programs
Your pay at Zurich is based on your role, location, skills, and experience. We follow local laws to ensure fair compensation. You may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. The combined salary range for this position is $74,300.00 - $. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $74,300.00 - $, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
The proposed salary range for the Executive Underwriter is $98,300.00 - $, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 15%.
