- Manages the entire employment cycle for all direct report positions including recruiting, onboarding, training, engaging, managing compensation, mentoring, managing performance (reviews & corrective action), and terminations.
- Performs regular file reviews and audits to determine compliance with best practices.
- Controls expenses within department guidelines.
- Facilitates and promotes consistent, positive department financial results through strategy and guidance to technical staff.
- Requires technical knowledge and experience, including coverage and contract law, investigation, legal liability, litigation and reserving.
- Utilizes existing technology resources and data to measure and monitor financial and performance trends.
- Manages projects related to cost management, quality assurance, SIU, training and development, etc.
- Participates in the interviewing process for potential new hires.
- Handles complex claims and sensitive or confidential information when necessary.
- Reviews and approves coverage letters, regulatory agency inquiries, and large loss reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
- At least twelve (12) years of insurance experience, with significant experience in commercial general liability claims handling.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Guidewire Claims Center experience a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four‑year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination.
- CPCU, AIC or completion of other insurance‑related classes is preferred.
