Zurich Insurance is currently seeking a Senior Underwriter OR Underwriting Specialist to support our Direct Markets line of business. This position will be based out of our Overland Park, KS office.

This technical role requires underwriting and analysis of policies using the Zurich Way of Underwriting Framework within delegated authority levels. Responsibilities include transactional and market-facing duties, product/proposition development, fulfillment, and portfolio management.

• Comply with underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws, regulations, and rating manual rules.
• Manage a portfolio of accounts.
• Develop and maintain agency and broker relationships.
• Provide superior service to broker partners and customers.
• Work within broad limits and authorities on complex assignments.

Senior Underwriter

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 1 or more years of experience in the Insurance or Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of the insurance industry and the legal and regulatory environment.
• Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, national/local filing regulations and guidelines.

Underwriting Specialist

• High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 1 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of lines of business and the legal and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

• Bachelor's Degree with 1 or more years of experience in the underwriting area.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Microsoft Office skills.

The combined salary range for this position is $59,900.00 – $. The proposed salary range for the Senior Underwriter is $59,900.00 – $98,200.00, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%. The proposed salary range for the Underwriting Specialist is $75,800.00 – $, with short‑term incentive bonus eligibility set at 10%.
