Life & Health Protection Underwriter - Home Based

We are looking for an experienced Life and Health Protection Underwriter to join our Underwriting team.

As a Life and Health Protection Underwriter you will be responsible for providing Customer Service to our Adviser Partners and Policyholders to support Guardian’s Customer Service proposition to achieve the target business outcomes, including delivering an accurate, efficient, and quality underwriting service for internal and external stakeholders.

• Effective and prudent assessment of risks that are processed within the operational underwriting
• Provide thorough and robust justifications of decisions and refer cases to third parties including Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and re‑assurers
• Communicate well both verbally and in writing to give clear instruction & reasons for decisions
• Manage customer expectations and portray Guardian’s high standards and underwriting services
• Act as the point of contact for Customer Services team and distribution teams
• Provide retrospective underwriting of cases for the claims area and claims committee
• Ensure Guardian’s Customer Services proposition for both advisers and customers is delivered ensuring that the quality of our services continues to meet and be recognised for leading the market.

• Minimum of 12 months experience in Life & Health Protection Underwriting within the UK market
• Ability to work and collaborate with colleagues at all levels and with external parties
• Identifying various Customer types and adapt accordingly
• Complaint management
• Internal and external stakeholder management
• Internal and external objection handling
• Independent time management skills
