Following an internal promotion, our Pricing, Product & Underwriting Analytics team is looking for a technically strong Analytics Analyst with a solid data foundation and a commercial understanding of insurance pricing dynamics.
This is not an actuarial modelling or traditional case underwriting role.
We are looking for someone who can confidently map complex insurance data structures, query our Unified Analytics Database (UAD), and produce accurate, well-structured data extracts and reporting outputs. Beyond extraction, you’ll be expected to interrogate the data, identify trends and anomalies, and generate clear, commercially relevant insights that support underwriting performance and pricing decisions.
Working closely with our Technical Underwriting Manager, you’ll operate at the intersection of underwriting execution and pricing strategy. A key part of the role will be ensuring that our data structures, rating factors, premium components, and portfolio outputs accurately reflect how risk is assessed, segmented, and priced in practice.
You’ll play a critical role in strengthening the integrity of our underwriting analytics capability — improving data definitions, refining extract logic, validating rule implementation, and ensuring our reporting provides decision-grade insight to senior stakeholders.
This role would suit someone with an engineering mindset: detail-oriented, comfortable working close to source data, and motivated by building reliable analytical foundations that directly influence commercial outcomes.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Map and interpret complex, event-based insurance datasets (policies, premiums, claims, cancellations).
- Write robust SQL queries to extract reliable datasets from the UAD.
- Build repeatable reporting and structured analytical outputs.
- Analyse underwriting and portfolio performance trends with pricing context in mind.
- Improve data integrity, definitions, and analytics processes across underwriting systems.
- Strong data background in analytics or data engineering
- Advanced SQL capability (complex joins, aggregations, structured dataset creation).
- Experience working with insurance or pricing-related datasets (rating factors, premium components, loss metrics, risk segmentation).
- Proven ability to map business logic into clean, usable analytical datasets.
- Ability to translate data findings into commercially relevant insights for underwriting and pricing stakeholders.
