Personal Lines Technical Underwriting Manager

About the roleIn this role you will be responsible for the technical expertise of our Regional Underwriters across our Personal Lines product range (Motor & Personal – M&P). You will contribute to the Personal Lines underwriting strategy, implement locally, monitor key account performance measures, and set technical standards.
You will collaborate with Head Office teams and external agents, acting as a referral point for the most complex risks and holding senior underwriting authority in the Regional Team. Your responsibilities will include feeding in market trends and analysis, providing technical opinion on policy wordings and product development to keep our products competitive.
The role involves leading a technical team of senior underwriters and driving their technical capability.
Hybrid working arrangementBased in York, Bristol or Glasgow offices; approximately 40% of the week on-site with up to 60% home working available.
About youKey criteria:
- Demonstrable experience of a senior Underwriter or Underwriting managerial position within a Personal Lines specialism.
- Knowledge of dealing with complaints, escalations and complex referrals for Home & Motor, Reinsurance, Flood Re and Sum Insured Exposures (£5M+).
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Experience delivering KPIs, projects and objectives.
- Strong mentoring and managerial skills.
