Position: Catastrophe Claims Representative I

We offer a hybrid work environment that offers flexibility to our employees in balancing in-office (2 days per week OR 15 hours per week in a Wawanesa office) and remote work. You may work from any of the following locations:

The salary offered is estimated to be within the following range: $52,000 - $62,000. Candidates with salary expectations outside of the range are still encouraged to apply.

Job Overview

The Catastrophe Claims Representative Level I supports Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional, consistent claims experience by fairly and equitably adjusting small to moderate complexity property claims arising from catastrophes, natural disasters, and weather events. In this role, you’ll apply and explain policy coverages, investigate and document losses, and manage a high-volume pending from first notice of loss through resolution.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support policyholders from first notice of loss through resolution with timely, empathetic service and clear communication.
  • Interpret policy, confirm coverage, and set accurate loss and expense reserves.
  • Investigate losses, assess liability (where applicable), document findings, and elevate or refer files when needed.
  • Coordinate vendors and service providers, reconciling inputs from appraisers, TPAs, contractors, and repair facilities to accurately quantify losses.
  • Negotiate and communicate fair settlements within assigned authority.
  • Review repair estimates and grow your estimating capability (scopes and estimating software).
  • Keep claim files audit-ready with accurate notes, diaries, and system documentation.
  • Manage high-volume intake and inventory by prioritizing effectively and staying organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work within adjusting guidelines and company procedures while staying current on regulatory/licensing requirements and product/industry updates.
  • Travel on short notice for catastrophe deployments (including extended stays) and jump in to support non-CAT claims when needed.
  • Take on other duties, as assigned, to support the team.
