Job Overview

The Auto Claims Adjuster contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent claims service experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of moderately complex auto and/or property claims via telephone and written correspondence.

• Provide exceptional customer service.
• Interpret policy wordings, determine policy coverage, and ensure appropriate reserving.
• Investigate losses to determine liability.
• Evaluate relevant information from sources such as appraisers, third‑party adjusters, contractors, and repair facilities to quantify losses.
• Coordinate services with vendors and service providers.
• Adjust claims from inception to completion proactively.
• Maintain accurate records in accordance with company standards and policies within the claims system.
• Stay up‑to‑date with legislative changes and trends in the insurance industry.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Experience in insurance adjusting.
• Fully proficient in French and English.
• Possess a Claims Adjuster Permit through the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).
• Possess a Commercial Permit through the AMF (asset).
• Working toward Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
• Effective customer‑service skills, including empathy and concern for customers.
• Strong investigative and analytical skills.
• Strong time‑management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize work in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
• Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy in data entry.
• Strong negotiation skills.

Salary for this role is estimated to be between $60,000 and $75,000 annually. In addition to salary, full‑time and part‑time permanent employees are eligible for an annual bonus plan, leave‑of‑absence top‑up programs, generous vacation time, personal days, premium free benefits, and a pension plan.
