Job Overview

The Claims Adjuster Level 2, Auto Physical Damage contributes to Wawanesa’s goal of delivering an exceptional and consistent member experience through the fair and equitable adjustment of low‑complexity auto physical damage claims. The role is responsible for applying and explaining policy coverages and documenting claim files throughout the claim life cycle, ensuring timely and prompt management from initial report to conclusion.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide direction and support to our members throughout the claims process by delivering exceptional service with empathy.
  • Ensure timely and proactive communication through voice, digital, and written correspondence, and professionally address all inquiries.
  • Adjust low‑complexity auto physical damage claims.
  • Review and interpret policy wordings, determine coverage, and communicate decisions to members.
  • Establish accurate loss and expense reserves throughout the claim, evaluating information from appraisers, third‑party adjusters, and repair facilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive investigations on all files to determine coverages and liability, adhering to Wawanesa’s adjusting guidelines and engaging appropriate internal and external resources when necessary.
  • Collaborate directly with vendors such as appraisers, rental companies, repair facilities, and other partners to coordinate services.
  • Negotiate and convey claim settlements within authority limits, communicating decisions promptly and effectively while maintaining an exceptional customer experience.
  • Maintain an effective diary system and document claim file activities in accordance with established procedures.
  • Remain up to date with legislative changes and industry trends and comply with all provincial requirements.
  • Support the CAT plan as necessary, including assistance on claims outside the primary service area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of insurance experience, preferably in auto.
  • Post‑secondary degree preferred.
  • Currently pursuing or completed a CIP designation through the Insurance Institute of Canada.
  • Exceptional customer‑service skills demonstrating empathy and concern for member satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication skills—listening, written, and spoken.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills with high accuracy in data entry.
  • Excellent time‑management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast‑paced, changing environment.
  • Good negotiation, decision‑making, and critical‑thinking skills, as well as a willingness to improve.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate with others.
