Senior Agri-Business Underwriter

We are currently looking for a highly motivated, service-orientated professional to fill the vacancy for the existing position of Full-Time Senior Agri-Business Underwriter
. Reporting to the Team Leader of Agri-Business Underwriting as a vital member of the dynamic Underwriting Team, you will work closely with our broker partners to provide insurance solutions that meet the changing needs of our Agri-Business consumers.

• Graduate from a recognized diploma program in Insurance or a strong equivalent combination of experience, education and training
• Experience in the P&C industry, with 5+ years’ experience in farm underwriting
• Background knowledge in agricultural and/or farm operations
• CIP designation, actively pursuing, or willing to obtain
• Detail oriented and well organized professional, with strong analytical decision making and negotiation skills
• Innovative thinking skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Strong oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to work well independently with minimal supervision, or as part of a team
• Ontario Driver’s License and access to transportation

• Quote, underwrite and issue new business, renewals, endorsements and cancellations for all aspects of farm property policies
• Identify opportunities to up sell products, coverage and limits
• Review risk inspections and create risk management recommendations
• Build strong relationships with brokers
• Regularly provide mentoring, guidance, and technical expertise to other Underwriters
• Consistently demonstrate strong communication, decision making and negotiation skills
• Participate in Industry and Ag related events, including trade shows
• Keep current on industry and market trends as they pertain to agri-business

Compensation: $70,500 – $95,500 (

this range includes salary and other non-discretionary compensation)
