We're looking for a Technical Underwriting Analyst to join our Underwriting team. In this role, you'll support the delivery of Tesco Underwriting's personal lines strategy by providing high-quality analysis, management information, underwriting insights and technical expertise that help drive profitable growth and effective risk management. You'll work closely with Pricing and Data teams to analyse portfolio performance, identify emerging risks, develop analytical solutions and enhance underwriting capabilities.

From validating data and monitoring underwriting controls to building dashboards, models and reporting, you'll play a key role in ensuring underwriting decisions are supported by accurate, reliable and actionable insight. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical analytical skills with underwriting knowledge to influence business performance.

• Delivering robust analysis, management information and portfolio insight that supports underwriting performance, profitability and strategic decision-making.
• Identifying trends, correlations and emerging risks within underwriting data and translating findings into clear recommendations for stakeholders.
• Developing and enhancing predictive models, scoring frameworks, dashboards and reporting solutions in collaboration with Pricing and Data teams.
• Ensuring data accuracy and integrity through rigorous validation, testing, controls and governance processes across underwriting activities.
• Driving improvements in data quality, automation and analytical processes to improve efficiency, scalability and business performance.
• Building strong relationships across Underwriting, Pricing and Data functions, communicating technical findings clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience in data analysis, technical underwriting support or a similar analytical role, with the ability to analyse large datasets and generate meaningful business insights.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience validating data, identifying trends and making evidence-based recommendations.
• Proficiency in tools such as SAS, advance Excel, SQL, Python or R.
• Proven experience building, calibrating, and implementing predictive models in Radar Live and/or Emblem.

• Knowledge of personal lines underwriting, pricing principles and insurance risk assessment.
• Experience developing dashboards, reporting and visualisations using Power BI or similar tools, with the ability to communicate complex findings clearly to stakeholders.
• Understanding of insurance regulatory requirements, compliance standards and data governance practices.
• Experience working closely with underwriting, pricing or actuarial teams within a general insurance environment.
