Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Underwriting Assistant / Underwriting Operations Specialist to support a growing underwriting team. This is not a traditional processing-focused role. The position offers extensive exposure to underwriting operations, broker interaction, submission analysis, and account management support, making it ideal for professionals looking to play a more strategic role within an underwriting organization.
Responsibilities- Review new business submissions for completeness and identify outstanding information needed for underwriting review.
- Partner directly with brokers and underwriters to obtain exposure data, loss information, and other account details.
- Analyze loss runs, exposure information, and underwriting documentation to support risk assessment and decision-making.
- Investigate insured operations and organizational structures to ensure accurate underwriting file setup and documentation.
- Maintain underwriting files and ensure data integrity within policy administration systems.
- Track quotes, binders, renewals, and other key underwriting metrics.
- Assist with workflow management and follow-up activities across active accounts.
- Serve as a key liaison between underwriting, operations, and distribution partners.
- Support process improvement initiatives and operational enhancements within the underwriting department.
- Develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external broker partners.
- 5+ years of commercial insurance underwriting support experience.
- E&S experience strongly preferred.
- Experience working with submissions, loss analysis, underwriting documentation, and broker communications.
- Strong understanding of commercial P&C insurance operations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Detail-oriented with strong data accuracy and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced underwriting environment.
