The Account Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial and personal insurance clients, serving as a primary point of contact for policy inquiries, renewals, and coverage changes. Day-to-day tasks include assessing client insurance needs, preparing quotes and proposals, processing applications and endorsements, and coordinating with carriers to ensure accurate and timely policy issuance. The role involves proactive communication to resolve client issues, conducting periodic coverage reviews, and identifying opportunities for cross-selling and upselling appropriate products.
The Account Manager will collaborate with internal team members to support agency goals, maintain detailed records in the agency management system, and ensure compliance with regulatory and carrier guidelines. This is a full-time hybrid role based in Columbia, MO, with a combination of in-office work and approved work-from-home flexibility.
- Client relationship and service skills, including active listening, clear communication, and a consultative approach to understanding insurance needs.
- Insurance and risk management knowledge, such as familiarity with commercial lines, personal lines, policy structures, and basic underwriting concepts.
- Administrative and organizational abilities, including attention to detail, accurate documentation, and effective time management in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical proficiency with office productivity tools, agency management systems, and digital communication platforms.
- Problem‑solving and analytical skills to review coverage options, interpret policy language, and recommend suitable solutions.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid setting, maintaining accountability and responsiveness to clients and colleagues.
- Prior experience in insurance, financial services, or client account management preferred; relevant licenses (such as Property & Casualty) or willingness to obtain them are beneficial.
- High school diploma required; post‑secondary education in business, finance, or related fields is an advantage.
