Associate Life Insurance Underwriting Consultant

Assess medical and financial risk from your home office as an Associate Underwriting Consultant with Equitable’s Individual Underwriting team. Apply sound medical knowledge to life insurance decisions.

This permanent full-time position supports Equitable’s Individual Insurance department. You will analyze medical, lifestyle, and financial information for individual life applications. The work includes reinsurance collaboration, technical coaching, negotiation, and project leadership. Your decisions help maintain appropriate risk exposure and support timely communication with agents, brokers, and internal partners.

• Assess mortality and financial risk for individual life applications
• Analyze medical, lifestyle, and financial information in detail
• Collaborate with reinsurers on cases exceeding retention limits
• Coach underwriters on technical decisions and communication
• Lead assigned projects supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and medical knowledge skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication with product knowledge
• FLMI or FALU designation, or active progress toward one
• Experience consulting Medical Directors and reinsurers on complex risks
• Complete at least 25 continuing education hours annually
