SALARY: The salary range for this position is $74,454.81 to $ for Schedule A, and $74,454.81 to $ for Schedule

B. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. For current Judiciary employees, salary upon promotion or advancement will be an increase of 5% of base salary, not to exceed the maximum of the range, or the minimum salary of the band/level, whichever is greater. Judiciary employees hired prior to June 3, 2014, are considered Schedule

The Middlesex Vicinage is seeking a Court Interpreter with exposure to the legal environment and technical competency in the court interpreting area. The chosen candidate will exhibit a high degree of integrity, honesty, commitment to customer service, and dedication to professional development. Under the Court Executive 2B (Operations Division Manager) and/or other high-level manager/supervisor, the successful candidate must be able to interpret in three modes of interpretation (sight, consecutive, and simultaneous) in court proceedings, quasi-judicial hearings, complimentary dispute resolution events, and other court related events in person or via a telecommunication device.

The qualified candidate will be able to produce translations of documents (either in draft or final form), such as official forms, public signs, notices, posters, form letters, and correspondence. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting and entering data into automated record-keeping systems and participating in study and training activities in a group or individually in order to develop and maintain interpreting and translating skills.

The successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of Judiciary staff.

REMOTE WORK: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is an essential function of this position.

Eligibility: Eligible applicants are court interpreters approved by the New Jersey Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). AOC approved interpreters include interpreters who have passed the written and performance oral exams of the National Center for State Courts administered by the AOC or an equivalent test administered by a member state of the Council of Language Access Coordinators; or who possess the Court Interpreter Certification from the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.

Note: Prior to translating documents, incumbents must pass the translation test administered by the AOC.
