Position: Technical Support Specialist 1

Job Summary

Convergint is looking for a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Technical Support Specialist to join our culture. In this role you will support new security systems—including Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion, Intercom, and network devices—while providing programming, database migration, data import/export, system customization, and physical installation of controllers and field devices. Direct interaction with the construction team on site will involve guiding subcontractors and device installers.

You will demonstrate equipment, train customers, and assist with close‑out documentation and ongoing service support. As part of a dynamic team, you will grow with Convergint.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to customer service calls, scheduled maintenance calls, and emergency/after‑hours calls in a timely manner; diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and debug a variety of systems for more complicated problems.
  • Implement solid troubleshooting skills to isolate and fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software; install projects as necessary.
  • Execute all work in accordance with state, local regulations, best practices, and company health and safety policies; fill out daily field safety reports and participate in weekly safety discussions.
  • Program many security applications, network devices, CCTV, and video recording equipment.
  • Demonstrate equipment, commission new systems, analyze performance, identify malfunctions, and write routine programs.
  • Consult with supervisors to resolve unusual problems in system operation, maintenance, and warranty work; lead the team, set examples for junior members, and act as a subject‑matter expert.
  • Advise supervisors on customer satisfaction, product performance, installation techniques, standards, and product improvement suggestions.
  • Execute technical aspects of multiple projects—programming, graphics development, start‑up, certification testing, customer training, close‑out documentation, and ongoing support; participate in system staging and product testing.
  • Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and assist in strategy development to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and timelines.
  • Assist the Project Manager or supervisor in overall coordination of specific projects; recommend quality improvements and identify scope changes.
  • Act as “our customer’s best service provider” to ensure Convergint Technologies remains the customer’s first choice.
  • Communicate consistently with team members to improve overall operations of the Convergint Technology Center and company.
  • Keep up to date with all company policies.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to maintain focus under pressure.
  • Advanced technical skills related to electronic security systems.
  • Advanced programming skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Good computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong spreadsheet and data management skills.
  • Some experience with SQL and database.
  • Good networking skills (advanced preferred).
  • Working knowledge of physical security and door hardware.
  • Understanding of relay and relay logic.
  • Ability to demonstrate and train others.

Requirements

Education:

High School/GED or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience:

5+ years of related field experience.

  • Experience with PACOM Security Systems is required.
  • Experience in the electronic and security industry is required.

Compensation Range: $20 - $25 an hour.
