Silverminds LLC is seeking professional Mandarin ↔ English interpreters to support our on-demand
Over-the-Phone (OPI) and Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) services. You’ll handle real-time interpreting for healthcare, government, education, insurance, and customer support scenarios using our Quacko-Intelligence platform.
This is a fully remote, independent contractor role with flexible scheduling based on business needs.
- Provide accurate, impartial consecutive interpreting between Mandarin and English over phone and video.
- Follow session protocols (greeting, confidentiality notice, first-person rendering, turn management).
- Handle healthcare encounters with sensitivity to HIPAA and cultural nuance.
- Document brief session notes when required and follow escalation/transfer procedures.
- Maintain professional audio/video quality and a distraction-free environment.
- Fluency in Mandarin and English with native-level command in at least one of the two.
- 3+ years of professional medical interpreting experience (OPI/VRI required).
- Solid knowledge of medical, legal, and community terminology; ability to sight-translate short texts.
- Understanding of confidentiality, impartiality, and accuracy ethics.
- Availability to cover peak business hours and punctual adherence to assigned schedules.
- Medical interpreter training/certificates (e.g., 40-hour programs) or national certifications (if applicable).
- Experience with contact centers, EHR/telehealth platforms, or large-scale language service providers.
- Reliable computer with stable high-speed internet (wired preferred).
- Professional USB headset with noise-canceling microphone and HD webcam for VRI.
- Quiet, private workspace suitable for confidential conversations.
Independent contractor engagement. Compensation is session-based and competitive for the market and language demand.
