Cantonese Interpreter- Work from Home

Responsibilities

• Provide language interpretation from one language to another for individuals with a language barrier to understand and communicate to each other
• Handle telephone or video calls on demand and render the meaning of conversations in the consecutive mode of interpretation between speakers of English
• Process information quickly and concisely, recognize sensitive cultural differences, and remain professional and courteous
• Use appropriate industry terminology and understand common industry procedures and practices; calls may involve simple or complex, non-technical or technical subjects
• Cover Healthcare, Government, Insurance, Finance, Utilities, Travel and Hospitality, 911 emergency services, Law Enforcement, Courts, and General Business contexts

• Excellent listening, retention and note taking skills to maintain a high level of accuracy
• Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation, and remain neutral and objective
• Ability to quickly establish personal credibility
• Ability to follow client's instructions closely
• Ability to explain certain cultural concepts to avoid miscommunication
• With the permission or at request of the client
• B2 CEFR English level; bilingual with other required languages
• Able to work from home on a permanent basis
