The Canadian Association for Supported Employment (CASE) is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented French Translator to join our Communications team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and inclusivity of our French-language communications across Canada. REPORTS TO:

Director of Communications 

JOB OVERVIEW:

Translation, adaptation, and review of French communication materials 

  • Translate and adapt Program and Marketing content with a consistent
    voice and approach, ensuring high quality, professional, compelling, branded and consistent languag
  • Ensure all French communication materials match the voice and tone of English communication materials
  • Edit and proofread French communications and resources to vet for any inconsistencies 
  • Research and implement appropriate French terminology, including person-centred, disability workplace inclusion, and inclusive of intersectional language consideration
  • Ensure consistency in the brand for all French communications, including through conducting spot checks and fatal flaw reviews of French communication materials
  • Ensure the quality of French content on websites 
  • Ensure that the French content is relevant to francophone persons and communities across the country

Translations management  

  • Maintain a translation glossary to ensure the consistent translation and adaptation of material
  • Review all written communications translated and/or adapted by external agencies or suppliers working with departments, when needed
  • Manage individual translation project file
  • Communicate clearly with requesters to ensure both parties are clear on deliverables and deadlines

Maintain French style guidelines and tools  

  • Update and maintain French terminology documents
  • Act as advisor for language use for French communications
  • Serve as a resource to staff regarding the application of the French style guidelines in their projects and activities

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications , Linguistics, Language Arts, or Education
  • Minimum five years' experience in the translation field
  • Knowledge of the translation process, terminology, and localization techniques
  • Familiarity with localization guidelines and standards
  • Ability to convert English written materials into French language
  • Excellent translation, writing, and communication skills
  • Fluency in English and French language
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environmen
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

HOURS OF WORK AND SALARY:  

  • Part
    -time ( 18 .5 hours / week) contract ending on Ma rch 27, 2027
  • The hourly rate is $3 5.35
  • Three weeks of paid vacation (pro-rated)
