Key Responsibilities- Demonstrate requisite trial advocacy skills independently as lead counsel or as part of a team, ensuring efficiency, proactive case management, work ethic, and high‑quality work product.
- Require minimal managerial oversight from the Managing Trial Attorney and NTD Leadership.
- Utilize technology and collaborate with support staff to ensure efficient case management.
- Maintain consistent awareness of changes to the law, technology, and procedural requirements that may impact litigation strategies.
- Possess subject‑matter expertise and trial advocacy skills in all NTD concentrations held, and be willing to learn additional concentrations as required.
- Provide factually, legally, and analytically sound opinions on case valuations, promptly updated and communicated to clients and claims.
- Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with key associates, claims partners, and colleagues within the legal and insurance industries.
- Leverage relationships to build and improve NTD’s reputation and expand case referral opportunities.
- Communicate effectively, consistently and proactively to meet client, claims, and internal NTD communication expectations.
- Serve as a mentor for junior attorneys and NTD staff, providing guidance and training and serving as a role model in engagement, coaching, feedback, efficiency, attitude, and collaboration.
Reports to Managing Trial Attorney.
Typical Skills And Experiences- Education: Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- License/Certification/Designation: Maintains an active license in the state where the position is located.
- Experience: Typically, more than eight years of relevant civil litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation.

Skills:- Significant litigation experience in property and casualty insurance defense or subrogation across all courts and agencies.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative, capable of working with staff and other attorneys on‑site and remotely, and serve as a role model and mentor.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and legal skills; creative problem‑solving and adaptability.
- Proficient in basic software and electronic filings.
- Strong time management, organization, decision‑making and prioritization skills.
- Leadership skills in motivating, problem‑solving and business development.
- Commitment to ethical rules and corporate/NTD policies.
Regularly and consistently demonstrates the Nationwide values.
Job Conditions- Overtime Eligibility: Not Eligible (Exempt).
- Working Conditions: Normal office environment; may work from home; frequent travel, occasional overnight travel, extended hours. Must have a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
