Summary:
We are seeking an Associate Attorney – Litigation to join our Texas legal team. This role is responsible for the legal oversight and management of the firm’s litigation portfolio, including contested matters, judicial foreclosures, replevin actions, and other creditor’s rights issues. The ideal candidate will serve as lead counsel across all stages of litigation and provide strategic legal guidance on behalf of secured and unsecured financial institution clients.
Descriptionof Duties:
- Manage a portfolio of 50-75 active litigation cases from initiation through resolution, including pretrial, trial, and appellate stages.
- Act as lead counsel in all phases of litigation: pre‑litigation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, trial, post‑trial, and appeals.
- Represent clients in contested matters, deceased borrower cases, and firm‑related litigation.
- Provide legal strategy, case planning, and timely status updates to clients.
- Negotiate settlements and manage risk exposure using efficient and legally sound approaches.
- Supervise procedural implementations and provide legal guidance to operational staff.
- Ensure compliance with applicable state, federal, regulatory, and client‑specific requirements.
- Monitor changes in relevant laws and recommend or implement procedural updates as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support department goals.
- Work extended hours as needed based on operational needs.
- 3-5 years of experience as lead counsel in contested litigation representing financial institutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
- Proficient in legal research tools such as Westlaw, Lexis Nexis, or equivalent.
- Experience with default litigation and banking law in Texas preferred.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in the State of Texas.
- Admission to practice before all four federal district courts in Texas.
Work Schedule:
The work week is Monday to Friday, business hours 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Employees are required to be onsite 2-3 days per week following a 90‑day training period and upon manager approval.
