Seasoned Workers' Compensation Defense Attorneys
Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr
We are working with a premier workers’ compensation, employment liability, general liability, and audit defense firm, also doing subrogation work, seeking multiple, workers’ compensation defense attorneys with 3+ years of experience, for its Los Angeles office, to defend the firm’s workers’ compensation cases from inception to final resolution, handling all aspects of discovery and litigation. Successful candidates need not reside in Los Angeles but may work remotely.
The attorneys hired will work closely with insurance companies, employers, and third-party administrators and have regular, reporting responsibilities. Experience with institutional clients, companies, organizations, and/or public entities is highly desirable, as is workers’ compensation carrier defense experience.
The billable hours expectation for the position is 195 hrs./month. The base salary is $150,000-$220,000, depending upon attorney experience, with significant potential for enhancement through the firm’s terrific quarterly bonus plan. Details will be discussed with qualified candidates.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Handle workers’ compensation cases from inception to resolution.
- Perform all necessary legal and factual research.
- Issue and answer discovery.
- Conduct and defend depositions.
- Engage experts, as necessary.
- Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, and arbitrations, as necessary.
- Prepare and respond to motions.
- Prepare legal memoranda, briefs, and reports, as necessary.
- Engage in settlement negotiations and resolve cases.
- Satisfy any and all reporting requirements of workers’ compensation carriers.
- Communicate regularly with clients, providing timely updates on case developments.
- Workers’ compensation defense experience for institutional clients, companies, organizations, and/or public entities (highly desirable)
- Bachelor’s and Juris Doctor degrees
- Member, State Bar of California in good standing
- Superior research, analytical, and negotiating ability
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Commitment to proactive case management
- Clear and conceptual thinking ability; excellent judgment; troubleshooting capacity; problem solving and analytical ability; discretion; ability to handle work-related stress; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously; and ability to meet deadlines
- Computer keyboarding ability; travel as required
- Auditory, visual, and speaking capacity
- $150,000 - $220,000 (depending upon experience) with quarterly bonus opportunities
- Unlimited Paid Time Off (UPTO)
- Ninety (90) credit hours in a single quarter, once annually, for eligible attorneys to preserve bonus potential for that same quarter.
