Location:

Plymouth, MN, with flexible hybrid or remote options across the U.S.

• Reviews assigned moderately complex insurance coverage matters to determine contractual obligations.
• Recommends additional investigation as appropriate.
• Identifies and documents controlling legal issues.
• Performs legal research to identify and analyze similar issues and recommend courses of action.
• Draws on inductive/deductive reasoning from case law to determine the company's contractual obligations.
• Communicates findings via correspondence and formal legal opinions, capable of being admissible in court.
• Assists with the direction and implementation of claims litigation strategy.
• Prepares and delivers targeted training to Claims staff on state-specific and/or industry-wide legal issues related to coverage and claim handling.
• Maintains in-depth knowledge of competitive, regulatory and legal environments and applies this information effectively.
• May provide direct assistance to internal coverage litigation team on litigated matters against the company, including but not limited to conducting research and drafting motions and legal briefs.
• Informs Chief Claims Counsel and other senior management of important litigation issues.

• 3-5 years of legal experience with insurance coverage analysis and/or litigation, preferably with a law firm or an in‑house position in the insurance industry.
• Experience with research and drafting legal coverage evaluations, preferably with experience analyzing the laws of multiple jurisdictions.
• JD required and admitted in good standing to practice law in at least one state.
• Experience in adjusting insurance claims preferred.

Typical base salary range: $107,000 - $151,000, adjusted for location. For candidates in San Francisco, CA;
Washington DC;
Massachusetts; and New York City metro area, range is $135,000 - $158,000. Eligible for bonus and full benefits.
